Today, on February 1, Minister of Education, Culture and Research, Monica Babuc had a meeting with H.E. Merab Antadze, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Georgia to the Republic of Moldova. The discussions were focused on subjects of common interest about the consolidation of bilateral cooperation in the fields of education, culture and research, as well as the possibility of launching joint actions in the future.
At the beginning of discussion, Monica Babuc appreciated at a high level the current stage of Moldovan-Georgian collaboration, manifesting its availability for facilitating the exchange of experience in the field of technical vocational and throughout life learning education; the organization of festivals, competitions, plastic art exhibitions; ensuring the academic mobility for researchers, as well as the possibility to sigh some cooperation agreements in the field of youth and sport. “Excellency, thank you for the hospitality offered in November last year and I reiterate the invitation addressed to Georgian homologues to visit Republic of Moldova. I hope that the bilateral relations will continue to grow, and the artistic ensembles from Georgia will delight the Moldovan public in this year's edition of the Martisor Festival”, said the official.
H.E. Merab Antadze expressed thanks for cordiality and appreciation, mentioning that both states must support each other in their European Integration process and expressed his belief that the common cultural values are a good premise in this regard. The official said that this year Georgia marks the centenary of the first republic and on this occasion the participation of Georgian artistic ensembles in various cultural actions abroad will be facilitated.
In the end, the parties agreed on necessity to create a common framework for cooperation in the fields of education, research, youth and sport, according to the model of the cultural cooperation Program signed in 2017, which requires the intensification of Moldovan-Georgian collaboration in the field of visual arts, cinematography, librarianship, cultural heritage, etc.
