Today, on 12 July, Minister of Education, Culture and Research, Monica Babuc, had a meeting with Rosa María Sánchez-Yebra Alonso, Vice-Governor of Social Development Strategy at Council of Europe Development Bank. The discussions were focused on launching joint projects and deepening bilateral co-operation.
At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Monica Babuc appreciated the partnership between the Republic of Moldova and the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB). ,,The projects implemented with the support of the Bank are indispensable, but we are also interested in developing of our potential in such areas as: education, professional formation, historical heritage rehabilitation, etc. I am firmly convinced that through mutually collaboration we can get the expected results”, said the official.
In her turn, the Vice-Governor of Social Development Strategy at Council of Europe Development Bank expressed his availability to initiate new projects in the field of education, which would contribute to improving the conditions and the quality of the education process in the Republic of Moldova.
Currently, the Council of Europe Development Bank contributes to the financing of social projects in three main areas: the strengthening of social integration, in particular by providing assistance to refugees and immigrants; the responsible management of the environment by assisting regions affected by natural disasters and the rehabilitation of historic heritage; the development of human capital through implementation of projects in the fields of education, professional formation and health.
In context, we mention that since the accession of the Republic of Moldova to CEB, in 1998, several projects were approved, including: the reconstruction and the renovation of the Republican Clinical Hospital, the construction of social housing for vulnerable population, construction of a new penitentiary in Chisinau, the acquisition of ambulances, etc.
The Vice-Governor of Social Development Strategy at Council of Europe Development Bank, Rosa María Sánchez-Yebra Alonso is in one official visit in Republic of Moldova from 11 to 12 July.
